Hi friends,

Here we are, once again! End of the year eligibility post on this ol’ blog o’ mine, (which I know I haven’t updated in a little while, I know). I’d love to find a new and more sustainable way of posting/keeping readers updated; maybe that’s a new site next year? We shall see if my brain decides it likes the idea!

Please find below the four stories I’ve published this year. I would be over the moon to be considered for nomination for awards, year’s best, anthologies, what have you. More than anything, I’m just thankful for you spending your time and attention reading these stories, coming into the worlds I made, and I hope you’ve enjoyed your time with Temi, Marcus and Nura, Azahn, and well . . . the dandelions.

Please find them below and links to them. As always, I remain grateful ❤

An Inheritance of Scars,” was published with Beneath Ceaseless Skies in April 2023.

From reviewer Charles Payseur in Locus Magazine, “The story unfolds in a world where trauma, from heartbreak to loss to family strife, are expressed as glowing scars. Temi is a young man raised by a single father who has struggled with the role, but who has also accepted help from others in raising his son. As an important and mysterious trial nears, Temi fears what failure might mean, but Cahill twists expectations in a careful and tender look at generational trauma, healing, and the thorny idea of personal responsibility. It’s an introspective and intimate story, eschewing the “epic” stakes often associated with adventure fantasy but providing a tense and satisfying experience all the same.”

We Will Witness,” was published with Sunday Morning Transport in October 2023.

From the comments, anonymously, “Absolutely gorgeous story. I cried. Thank you so much,” and from reviewer Maria Haskins, “Heartbreaking, and quietly devastating.”

The Moment Before The Moment,” was published with Lightspeed Magazine in November 2023.

Dandelions,” was published with Lightspeed Magazine in December 2023.

Thanks for spending your year with me, and I can’t wait to show you what 2024 has in store for me!
